Ascension Seton and Breastfeeding Success have been in partnership for over three years providing inpatient and outpatient lactation services. Read below for more information on how to access lactation services after hospital discharge.
Breastfeeding Success offers support for families through education and five lactation clinics in Central Texas. Our primary location with three clinic rooms and a large classroom space is located in South Austin just off South Congress Ave. and Stassney Ln. and our second clinic is located in Central Austin at Seton Medical Center on the 8th floor.
Families with in-network insurance benefits have access to Breastfeeding Success lactation services with no out-of-pocket expense at the time of service. Insurance plans may vary in regards to copay or coinsurance. Breastfeeding Success continues to serve families using other health insurance providers by collecting a fee at the time of service and providing a Superbill for insurance reimbursement.
Clinic lactation consultations are scheduled for approximately 1-1.5 hours. We ask that your baby is hungry upon your arrival so that we may assess an entire nursing session. Babies are weighed before and after feeding to appropriately document intake. The goal is to help resolve issues associated with breastfeeding and to create a plan that works for each family to meet their breastfeeding goals. All care plans include follow-up care either by phone or in-person contact. Follow-up appointments usually take 1 hour and will be scheduled after initial appointment.
BFS sees clients in their homes based upon staff availability. Travel fees apply for both in and out of network visits. Lactation home consultations take between 1-1.5 hours. Telehealth opens up the option to virtually bring a Lactation Consultant home with you. Virtual visits are very helpful in the case of sore nipples, poor latch, engorgement and many other issues. If there is a concern that your baby isn’t getting enough milk, a virtual visit can be combined with a pediatric scale rental. Our platform is completely private and HIPPA compliant. At this time many insurance companies are honoring telehealth visits as a covered service. Check with your insurance company to verify coverage.
